Chapter 5: Apologies

Shadow placed carefully his beautiful pregnant gem on the bed, when did so grabbed a blanket and laid it on Sonic.

   He sat beside him and started to caress blue forehead. Crimson eyes directed to the window, it was dawning; so walked to the curtains to close them, he didn’t wanted the sunlight to ruin the sleeping of his beloved one.

   When went back to bed saw the body under the blanket trembling; so took another blanket to prevent him from shivering, laid beside him and hugged him to void the cold to bother him again.


      “What’s wrong with you? You been absent at work for many days, will you give me an explanation before I get you sacked” Blaze scolded an apparently world-absent form sitting in front of the table, head supported by his arm on the table, eyes looking at the nothingness.

   As she had a key copy of his apartment she was able to get in after a constant knocking.

   She was a staff manager at a company but had decided to run the Internet café too, where Silver was employed.
  
The purple one snapped her fingers in front of the albino “Hello, Mobius to Silver” Silver blinked “Were you saying something?”

   “What’s the matter with you? You’ve been like living dead for days, but today it seems you finished dying”

   “Did I?” He asked not looking at her.

   “Look, when I started the business you insisted I give you a job, but it seems you just don’t care anymore; and look, your cereal is already watered”

   “Is it?” He asked not looking at the bowl.

   “You really exasperate me!” She retired the plate. “I’ll make breakfast for you, and make sure you eat it”

   The white hedgehog placed both arms on the table, crossed them and laid his head on them.

   “Why were you so sad?” Whispered, he felt in his bones something was wrong with him.

   When Sonic woke up found himself alone on bed and with a sudden urge of throwing up his entire stomach, as he didn’t reach to get the bathroom vomited on the carpet. Shadow entered the room and saw his love on the floor puking.

    “I’m sorry” The dizzied hedgehog apologized when finished.

   “Don’t be, I’ll cleaned it up” Shadow took his sapphire furry again to the bed and removed one of his gloves to wipe gently the drop of vomit sliding from his mouth.

   “Do you feel dizzy?” The blue creature nodded; he still felt tired, the only reason he got up from bed was the urge of puking.

“I’ll bring you a pill” “No, please stay” Azure spoke at a very low tone, eye-lid half closed.

   “I’ll be back in a sec” He kissed bluish forehead before go and get the medicine. That contact made Sonic blush and remember all the beautiful things the dark one said about him. It had been such a long night, he didn’t even know what time he fell asleep and less what time was currently.

   He decided to stand up to open the curtains to guess the time. But realised he fell to the floor since he felt like if gravity had increased not letting him move his body freely; it had happened before but now the force attracting him to the ground seemed to be stronger.

   When Shadow came back, placed the pill and a water glass on the nightstand to carry him to the bad again, this time he made the cobalt sit, he placed a pillow on the bed headboard to make cobalt back support on it comfortably.

   Dark hands reached the glass and the pill, he held his hand containing the pill near peach muzzle to preventing him doing any kind of physical effort. Sonic leaned a little his head forwards and took the pill with his lips.

   The caress that produced peach lips on his ungloved hand by that movement made the onyx male blush slightly and made him realise how defenceless the sapphire creature was in that moment.

   “Shadow” Sonic called him in low voice; the bitter flavour of the medicine had taken place on his tongue.

   “Sorry” He placed the edge of the glass on peach lips and leaned a bit for the blue to drink. When finished Shadow replaced his mate’s back again on the mattress. Tiredness was closing blue eye-lids. Shadow let him sleep again, even if he had preferred him to eat something `cause he hadn’t in eight hours and few minutes away had threw up all dinner.

   Dark one cleaned the carpet before going to living-room and lying on the couch he had cleaned too an hour ago. He was thinking how to go about the current situation; he had planned to divorce Sonic after a DNA prove supported the legal paper. But now everything was different, he was sure of the azure’s love and words about his fatherhood.

   Even felt ashamed of not having believed him the first day he said the child was of his. The simple idea of his sapphire giving birth the son of anyone who weren’t him was enough to enrage him to the point of wishing the other aborted.

    Fortunately he had kept his rage and propagated it in insults; that’s why he insisted in divorce, to keep him away from his wrath. He loved his azure since the day he met him and since there every second of his life.

    The thought of Sonic stopping loving him scared him and he hated to feel fear since that was a sentiment he rarely met with. He really thought Sonic didn’t love him, all these months he thought the cobalt was just obsessed with him and didn’t truly love him. But he realized it wasn’t obsession, but true love.   

   An hour had passed and the blue hadn’t awake, Shadow was reading a book till heard the doorbell ‘Who could that be?’ He thought, nobody was expected but could guess who was because of it pressed the doorbell several and repetitive times.

   “Please, not you” He muttered, wishing it wasn’t who he thought. Opened the door and unfortunately his suppositions were correct.

   “Hi Shadow! Is Sonic home?” The pink female asked, her greeting totally pretended. Amy hated the black hedgehog for taking ‘her boyfriend’ away from her.

    After the two males had formalized their relationship she just went mad and stabbed Shadow in the back(literally) after a long discussion, the black male had grew tired of the stubbornness of the pink one and had turned around to leave so she got her chance.

   She would have killed him if Sonic hadn’t come to stop her. After that, she told them she would leave them alone.

   But the truth was that she was waiting for the disintegration of their marriage, Amy was still obsessed with the idea of the blue hero leaving the dark hedgehog as he realised she would be a better mate.

   “He’s sleeping” Replied black one.   

   “Is he? It’s four o’clock and Sonic never takes naps” Answered the sceptical female.

   “You’re right, maybe the fact he’s pregnant hasn’t anything to do”

   “Then I’ll wait for him to wake up” She entered the house by pushing Shadow slightly and made for the couch to sit.

   “I’d like a cup of tea” She asked in a kind of demanding tone.

   “There’s no tea” Shadow replied, he was getting fed up of the girl’s attitude.

   Amy was about to ask him another drink when saw her sapphire runner coming down the stairs.

   “Sonic!!!” The pink girl shouted in excitement and ran to him. ‘Shit, not you’ Sonic thought. Definitively it wasn’t a good moment for visits, especially Amy.

   When she was near him noticed the huge bruise on his cheek and below his eye.

   “What happened to your face!?” Asked Amy, and before getting a reply, she directed to Shadow.

   “You did this to him! I knew you’d been mistreating him!” As she used to visit them at least once two weeks, she was able to notice the cold way he spoke to the azure.
   
   “Shut up, Amy! I fell over, tha…”

   “You don’t have to lie just to give her an explanation, Sonic” The black male told blue before speaking to pink female.

   “It’s not of your concern, but as it seems you won’t stop butting in, everything you said it’s true, but the only one I owe an explanation and an apology is Sonic, not you” He stated, the pink girl was furious. She angrily made for the door, before leaving, directed to Sonic.

   “You’re an idiot! He’ll kill you before you drop that thing!”  

She left running before slamming the door, Sonic was about to chase her in anger to make her apologize but Shadow stopped him.

“Let her, she won’t be a pest again” Shadow grabbed blue waist and neared his.

“I was being serious about the apology” Tanned lips planted a soft kiss on the injured cheek. Sonic placed his arms under black ones and hugged the other.

“You don’t have to apologize, I deserved it”

“No, you didn’t; I’m sorry for making you think that. I was angry because of the child you’re expecting; but now I’m regretted of not having believed you before”

Tears started to accumulate on the corner of Sonic’s eyes before crying on a black shoulder. But those weren’t tears of happiness and Shadow knew it.

“What’s wrong? I won’t deny the child anymore, you should be happy” Sonic looked at red eyes, and even if his head told him not to open the mouth his heart told him to be sincere to his beloved.

“It’s more possible that the child not be yours”
